How can we increase and speed up the roll out of clean energy? We've seen a big boost in renewables lately. This is great news, but there's still a long way to go. What's holding us back? Issues like permits, grid development, and storage are just a few of the challenges we need to tackle.

Powering the transition - rebuilding Central Asia's electricity grids for regional resilience

Rising electricity demand and aging grids are testing Central Asia’s energy systems. Our paper argues that tackling these stresses requires gradual, locally grounded reforms rather than rapid liberalization. This includes strengthening distribution networks, expanding metering, advancing digitalization, enabling storage and regional trading, and gradually introducing cost-reflective tariffs while protecting vulnerable consumers.
