Global Progressive Mobilisation

FES Just Climate is following the call of the Global Progressive Mobilisation (GPM) to Barcelona, hosting a dedicated side event on progressive industrial policy.

17 April 2026, 14:00–14.45

Venue: Barcelona, Fira Gran Via, Hall 8, Room Hannah Arendt

FES Just Climate is following the call of the Global Progressive Mobilisation (GPM) to Barcelona. As the world faces critical turmoil, the GPM aims to make progressive solutions visible and credible. Over two days, leaders, activists, thinkers, and representatives of progressive parties and movements from all regions will meet to reflect, exchange, and coordinate on the defining challenges of our time.

We will be hosting, in cooperation with the Foundation for European Progressive Studies, a dedicated side event on the topic of Renewing Progressive Leadership in Climate and Industry. We are excited to welcome Manon Dufour, Executive Director, E3G Brussels Office and Mariana Mazzucato, Professor at University College London, Founding Director of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, to our debate.

The debate will take up questions like

  • What would a progressive alternative industrial policy look like, in contrast to a reemerging deregulation agenda?

  • What progressive narratives help to shift from regulation backlash to investment and delivery, highlighting the link between economic security to industrial modernisation through decarbonisation and climate action, etc. ?

  • How to move from a reactive stance to proactive strategies? And how to rebuild trust in the ability of governments and public actors, capable of delivering on the policies we need?
