What does the EU–Australia trade deal actually deliver in a world of increasingly fragile supply chains?

Quite a lot — at least on paper. Australia offers access to critical raw materials in a stable and reliable environment.
That’s exactly what’s needed if supply chains are to be not just secure, but also clean and fair.

There’s more: both sides broadly align on standards — from sustainability to labour conditions. That creates real scope for closer cooperation.

But a good agreement doesn’t automatically translate into resilient co-production.

Whether this delivers in practice will depend on concrete projects, investment, and implementation on the ground.

The opportunity is there. Now it needs to be turned into reality.
