Fair, clean and resilient value chains are increasingly decisive for Europe’s future. They are a prerequisite for a future-proof industry, clean energy, good jobs and long-term prosperity. Security of supply and strategic resilience, too, can only be achieved through reliable value chains. International industrial partnerships are therefore gaining in importance.

Partner countries on the other hand, pursue industrial policy objectives in their own right. Rather than simply exporting raw materials, they strive to generate more value locally and create good jobs. This raises a key question for Europe: How can international industrial partnerships be structured so that both sides can benefit? And above all: who will ensure that political objectives are translated into concrete projects and what is the role of the state?

We will discuss these questions with high-level speakers on two distinct panels, one dealing with industrial policies supporting industries in Europe, and a second one intrinsically linked, dealing with value creation in partner countries - both must go hand in hand for lasting partnerships:

  • 14h30 - 16h00 Europe: More than just the market - how is clean industrial value creation achieved?
  • 16h30 - 18h00 Partner countries: More than just raw materials - how are local value and good jobs created?

Among our speakers we count Thorben Albrecht, Chairman of the German Trade Union Confederation in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany; Robyn Klingler-Vidra, Associate Professor, Political Economy and Entrepreneurship, King’s College London; Emmanuel Adjei Danso, Director Energy, Mining and DGOJP, IndustriALL Global Union, Geneva; Jandyra Uehara Alves, National Secretary for Social Policies and Human Rights at the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT), Brazil; Taneli Lahti, Director Sustainable Finance, Investment and Jobs, European Commission, DG INTPA; as well as from the European Parliament, and representatives from business and industry associations.

We will update the agenda here as confirmations are coming in.

Join the debate with leading actors from EU institutions, academia, business, and social partners.
